Five Little Monkeys Play Hide-and-Seek

by Eileen Christelow

Clarion, 2004 Ages: 3-6

“Those naughty monkeys are back, this time they’re tormenting their baby-sitter…A delightful choice for a group setting or for one-on-one sharing.”

— School Library Journal

The Story:

“Where are those monkeys?

Where did they go?

Where are they hiding?

I really don’t know!”

It’s bedtime for monkeys…but when Mama’s out dancing and Lulu is the babysitter, thereユs always time for a game of hide-and-seek…and the another, and ANOTHER…until those monkeys find the best hiding place of all! Uh oh! Will Lulu find them before Mama comes home? Read the book and you’ll find out!

How high can you count? First Lulu counts to 10, then to 24, then to 104! Count along with her!

The Illustrations:

The drawings were done in ink on vellum. I photocopied the line onto Fabriano Hot Press watercolor paper and then painted the color with acrylic gouache.

Meet Lulu, the babysitter!

She’s a stylish teenager with a fancy hairdo (fur-do?) and equal to the job. This is her first book. She’ll be back in 2013!
